NEWSLETTER.... Autumn Term 2008

Diary Dates

Half term begins.............. Thursday 23rd October

School closes at 3.15.

Return to School is on Monday 3rd November.

MOBILE PHONE POLICY

1. Riddings Junior School discourages, and should advise all parents to discourage, pupils from bringing mobile phones to schools on the grounds that they are valuable and may be lost or stolen.

2. Where a pupil does bring a mobile phone to school, the phone must remain switched off during the school day and may not be used, for any purpose, on school premises, grounds or during off-site school activities (such as school swimming or sports activities). The Phone is to be labelled with the name of the pupil and handed into the school office for safekeeping. Phones are not to be taken into the classroom.

( By storing the phone in the office the school accepts no liability for loss or damage to the phone If phones are brought on to the school premises, in spite of active discouragement, It is assumed that by doing this the parent accepts the terms of no liability should a loss or damage event occur .)

3. Where a school pupil is found by a member of staff to be using a mobile phone, as above, for any purpose, the phone will be confiscated from the pupil and returned only to the parent, guardian or carer.

Front Door

Start time for the school is 8.55 unless your child wishes to buy fruit or milk which is on sale in the hall from 8.45.

Pupils should enter through the back gate which is opened at 8.45

Would parents please be reminded that children are only to be dropped off and picked up at the front door by prior arrangement, or if you have a need to speak to a member of the staff.

Thankyou.

Headlice

We have recently had a few cases of Headlice in the school.

With this in mind we would be grateful if you would check your child's hair on a regular basis and medicate as necessary.

Good Citizenship Community Award

Harvest Festival

We held a harvest festival in the school today. Each yeargroup had done research in to their chosen topic and presented that to the whole school. We would have loved to invite parents and friends bit since the licensing laws applied to school we cannot exceed the capacity.
